Hird expands training for compact cranes, powered access and vacuum lifters

Hird is expanding the operator training courses it is offering to meet growing demand from customers Packages offered including IPAF working at height operator training, CPCS A66 compact crane training and the RTITB vacuum lifter training course.

The training can be delivered nationally through our three strategically-placed depots or at customer premises if that is preferred.

Specific investment is being focused on our London and South East Depot at Redhill, Surrey. Below, we focused on the popular compact crane training Hird is offering.

CPCS A66 Compact Crane

The CPCS A66 Compact Crane course is recognised by all UK contractors as the standard qualification for operating plant machinery.

The course, which includes class-based and practical, hands-on learning and covers:

  • Machine checks and preparation for usage
  • Moving mini cranes
  • Configuration of lifting tasks
  • Lifting and placing of loads using full radius and slewing functions
  • Operators’ responsibilities
  • Regulations and guidelines

Hird also provides training courses of a range of NVQ qualifications, including certificates and diplomas, that that are required by compact crane operators and people working in the lifting industry, for example when converting to from a red CPCS Trained Operator card to a blue CPCS Competent Operator card.

These courses provide compact crane operators with proof of skills and knowledge in controlling lifts, improved opportunities for employment and a good understanding of requirements and techniques to carry out lifts with mini cranes safely.
