Product of the Month 2025 Roundup

Higher, smarter and safer

We’ve just realised, we’re days away from being a quarter of the way through the century.

Here, though, we’ll focus on just the last 12 months, with our Product of the Month Round-up for 2025. Featuring equipment and services that have allowed our customers to lift, work and transport higher, further, faster, more sustainably, smarter and safer.

JanuaryDingli JCPT2223DC electric all-terrain scissor lift

We launched into 2025 with a review of the Dingli JCPT2223DC scissor lift, at the time one of the newest machines on the Hird access platform hire fleet and still one of the largest electric rough terrain scissors in the UK.

With a maximum working height of 22m, it combines excellent performance, both indoors and outdoors, with zero emissions operation. It has a capacity of 750kg, with a platform that is 2.25m wide and 4.59m long, with a platform extension that extends that length to 7.29m.

FebruaryMaeda MK3053C electric spider crane

In February, we kept the battery electric power theme going. In fact, 10 out of the 12 Hird Products of the Month in 2025 have been battery electric machines. This time it was the new Maeda MK3053C knuckle boom spider crane – Hird had the first one in the UK.

Our Maeda MK3053C has had a huge impact since it was added to our mini crane hire fleet. With a SWL of 2.98t, it has a maximum working height of 16.95m and maximum radius of 14.3m. And customers have been amazed at how adept it is at working in difficult spaces.

MarchGenie GS-1432m electric scissor lift

The Genie GS-1432m scissor is the access platform that can do everything well. The ‘m’ stands for micro. It is a highly versatile low-level slab scissor lift that excels for our customers indoors and outdoors, with an impressive 227kg platform capacity.

Sealed electric motors give it plenty of oomph and maximise reliability, with a max working height of 6.3m indoors and 5.66m outdoors. When stowed, the Genie GS-1432m is just 810mm wide and 1880mm high, so can be moved through most single doorways.

AprilWinlet 1000 electric glazing robot

Early spring heralded the arrival in our PoTM pantheon of the Winlet 1000 glazing robot. As we pointed out, its four vacuum cups can lift a 1 tonne panel of glass, equivalent to the weight of a fully-grown Australian saltwater crocodile.

Not just lift it, but rotate, tilt and move it up, down and sideways, in every way possible – and raise it to a height of 4.1m and install it with extreme precision and safety. This is glass installation with no compromise, carried out sustainability with smaller teams.

JulyWinlet ErgoMover electric materials trolley

At the height of summer, we showcased wireless remote-controlled Winlet ErgoMover materials trolleys. They have three great advantages: simpler, more productive, and safer transportation of materials and equipment, like brick-packs, cement, plaster board, steel beams and wood.

Choose from two ErgoMover electric trolleys in the Hird hire fleet. The Lift & Go has a maximum capacity of 1,500kg. Its load deck can be raised and lowered to pick up and set down loads. While, the Manipulator can carry materials weighing 1.1t, with a load deck that can be tipped nearly vertically to during loading or off-loading.

AugustValla V36R electric pick and carry crane

The Valla V36R is “ridiculously compact” for such a powerful crane, we confidently stated. The pick and carry crane has a max SWL of 3.6 tonnes but is nearly half a metre narrower than the UK’s smallest car. Also, as a Valla V Series crane, it has a fantastic range of features.

With its hydraulic fly jib deployed, the Valla V36R’s already impressive working height is extended to 8.7m (SWL: 450kg) and radius to 5.8m (SWL: 250kg). With non-marking tyres and fume-free lifting, the wireless remote-controlled crane is at home in factories, aircraft hangars, tunnels, and shafts.

SeptemberSnake 2010H Plus truck mount boom lift

For working at height on the go, at multiple locations, one after the other, there is nothing that can compare with the flexibility and productivity of a truck-mount platform, like September’s featured machine, the Oil&Steel Snake 2010H Plus.

It provides 20m of working height, from a large 225kg-capacity basket, with a maximum outreach of 10.2m. Other advantages include a compact design, fast and simple set-up, flexible stabilisation options, exceptional safety, and smart controls, that contribute to easy operation.

OctoberValla V130RX electric pick and carry crane

We returned to Valla pick and carry crane power in October, and the Valla V130RX mini crane. It deftly answers a knotty question: what if you need a smaller crane to get into a very constrained space, but a bigger crane to carry out the lift?

The Valla V130RX’s solution is an extendable chassis (and a stabiliser bar) that, at a touch of a button, creates a more stable crane, with a larger lifting capacity. It has a SWL of 13 tonnes, a jib height up to 12.5m (SWL: 4.2t) and maximum radius of 8m (SWL: 2.3t).
