Product of the Month – Winlet ErgoMover electric material trolleys

Manual handling safety is becoming increasingly critical, not least as contractors of all types seek to complete projects more safely and quickly at lower costs.

That is where Hird’s Winlet ErgoMover electric material trolleys, our Product of the Month for July, come into their own.

The electric battery self-propelled trolleys are becoming firm favourites in our materials moving hire fleet, for three important reasons:

  • They simplify materials transportation
  • They make materials handling safer
  • They allow more material to be moved by smaller teams

Eliminating worksite hazards

The concept is simple: Winlet ErgoMover electric trolleys are designed specifically to safely transport loads over potentially long distances, across uneven terrain, or up and down sloping ground, and ramps.

They do away with suboptimal material moving options, that can include:

  • Carrying material by hand, often requiring multiple journeys, increasing the risk of physical injury and damage to the materials themselves.
  • Transporting materials using unpowered trolleys, which can be difficult across many worksites, again risking personal injury, and often needing multiple operatives to control loads.
  • Or using suboptimal lifting systems – for example, carrying materials in the bucket of an excavator, which creates its own hazards, and diverts an excavator from what it is designed to do.

Wide range of transportation uses

Instead, Hird’s Winlet ErgoMover electric trolleys provide a best-practice transportation solution that is fit for purpose, efficient, productive, safe by design, and aligned with latest safe systems of work.

Materials the trolleys are used to carry include plasterboard, brick and block pallets, steel sections, wooden beams, and bagged aggregates at speeds up to 4 mph.

Equipment and tools, such as generators can also be transported, or equipment that needs to be installed, for example boilers or air conditioning units.

As well as supporting safe operations on construction sites, the electric trolleys are idea for transportation duties in factories and at potentially remote locations, such as digital mast sites.

Built for reliability and productivity

The trolleys are battery-powered, rugged and extremely reliable. They can be operated using controls on the trolley’s drive arm.

Chunky foam-filled puncture-proof tyres provide excellent grip over uneven or soft ground, such as soil or gravel.

Four-wheel drive adds to the traction needed to traverse muddy terrain or to power ramps with full loads.

Four wheel steering also enhances the movement of the trolleys around obstacles and their optimum positioning for loading or off-loading of materials or equipment.

The two ErgoMover models available in the Hird materials trolley fleet are compact and have multiple tie points for attaching straps to keep loads safe and secure during transportation.

Meanwhile, high-capacity batteries and powerful electric motors ensure the trolleys will keep going for a full shift, maximising productivity.

Winlet ErgoMover Lift & Go

The ErgoMover Lift & Go has a maximum capacity of 1,500kg. Its load deck is just 698mm wide and 1,616mm long.

The deck can be hydraulically lifted from 565mm to a maximum height of 715mm to pick up loads from trestles.

The electric materials trolley also has a 3600 rotatable platform, so it can be positioned optimally for loading and for taking materials off the trolley at a worksite.

Another option is the ErgoMover Lift & Go Flex, which has pull-out extension bars with lengths of 177mm, 2270mm or 2470mm for carrying bulky loads.

Winlet ErgoMover Manipulator

The ErgoMover Manipulator has another useful function.

It can hydraulically lift materials, such as plasterboard, cladding, wood and plastic sheeting to a near vertical plane.

This allows operatives to take sheets more quickly and easily for installation with minimal lifting and no bending over – speeding up installation and greatly reducing injury risks.

The electric trolley has a maximum load capacity of 1,100kg.

It retains the ErgoMover Lift & Go’s ability to raise its load deck, but to a maximum height of 425mm.

Also, like the ErgoMover Lift & Go, it has forklift slots to ease transportation and lifting between levels on worksites.

Reducing costs and carbon footprints

Hird’s Winlet ErgoMover electric transport trolleys optimise materials and equipment transportation processes across all work locations, both in terms of productivity and safety.

Because they are battery electric powered, they create no emissions, so are a low-carbon solution, and are almost silent, so are compatible with low-noise working areas.

They also allow tasks to be completed with smaller teams – helping to control operational costs and overcome ongoing problems caused by skills shortages, especially in the construction industry.

Introducing – electric tracked material carriers

For larger loads and where there is a need to transport materials across even more challenging terrain or low load bearing surfaces, Hird can also supply a range of Tracked Carriers.

These smart materials transportation machines, with capacities from 1,200kg to 4,000kg, take battery electric materials moving to another level in terms of capacity and capability.
