Product of The Month – Hinowa 26.14 Performance IIIS Tracked Boom

Product of The Month – Hinowa 26.14 Performance IIIS Tracked Boom

There is a wise saying in the world of working at height, that we’ve made up especially for this article.

It’s that a tracked spider boom lift comes in particularly handy when you face the 3Ts of working at height – Tough, Tight, and Tricky.

We’ll explain in a moment. First, if there is a tracked spider boom that will be perfect to help you face those 3Ts with some ease, it is our Product of the Month for December.

The last PoTM of 2017 is the Hinowa 26.14 Performance IIIS. It is new to the Hird tracked boom hire fleet, and is the machine designed to take over from the Hinowa 23.12 IIIS.

The boom lift gives our access hire customers more working height, more reach, and more lifting capacity, to make working at height easier and more productive.

What is more it is powered by lithium batteries, giving our tracked boom hire customers reliable, emission-free operation, with excellent duty cycle, for any indoor or outdoor working at height task.

So, back to the 3T challenge – Tough, Tight, and Tricky. What on earth are we going on about? Let us take each one of those in turn.

Tracked boom – Tough

When the going gets tough, a tracked boom lift could be a very good option.

The low loading of the Hinowa 26.14 Performance IIIS’s tracks make it ideal for operating across rough, soft, and unstable ground. It also has excellent gradeability, so even steep slopes present no barrier.

This go (pretty much) anyway capability makes the boom lift perfect for a wide range of outdoor operations, including construction, tree surgery and forestry management, and electrical power line maintenance.

Once the tracked boom has reached the work site, it can be prepared for operation quickly, with the outriggers deployed and levelled at a touch of one button.

Tracked boom – Tight

One of the big benefits of tracked booms is their narrow width. It is the main reason why we have had to wait for lithium battery technology to be able to offer a fully electric powered tracked boom that can be operated independently from a mains power supply.

Conventional batteries would be just too bulky and heavy.

In travelling set up (with the platform removed) the Hinowa 26.14 Performance IIIS is just 990mm wide, so can be guided through narrow access points, that a wheeled boom lift with the same performance envelope would never manage.

This often makes tracked booms the go-to machines for operating in older buildings, such as churches and stately homes which were not designed with doorways specifically with modern powered access equipment in mind.

Tracked boom – Tricky

Where restricted access is combined with confined space, working at height officially becomes tricky.

Tracked booms also have unrivalled turning circles. The track system allows the Hinowa 26.14 to turn on its axis. This is perfect for operation in confined spaces, whether that be on construction sites, or the nave of a cathedral, speeding up working at height projects significantly.

Those tracks – ideal for rough ground – are just as useful for traversing delicate floors, whether they be in shopping centres or a historical monument.

Low point loading, combined often with the use of specialist protective matting, allows tracked booms to operate across floors that would not hold the weight of a wheeled boom lift, or would be damaged by it.

The Hinowa 26.14’s outreach, a massive 13.6 metres, and clever boom articulation system, allows the machine to reach up and over obstacles, so confined space on the ground, does not have to mean the working at height project cannot be completed.

Safety built in

Hinowa aims to deliver a robust, light-weight, easy-to-use tracked boom, with fast travel and boom speed, that is also packed with all the latest safety features.

It has a terrain monitoring system to ensure safe tracking on varying ground conditions, and an anti-entrapment system to enhance operation safety, as well as LED lights on the outriggers to reduce the risk of trips and collisions.

Hinowa 26.14 – ticking your 3Ts

So, there you have it. Our last Product of the Month of 2017 – the Hinowa 26.14 Performance IIIS – has the (lithium battery) power to tick all your tracked boom boxes.

Whether your working at height project is Tough, Tight, or Tricky, this machine will do the business.
