Product of the Month – Hinowa 23.12 IIIS
Most of us have heard the saying – Keep it Simple Stupid – well Hinowa took it to heart when designing its 23.12 IIIS tracked spider boom, which is a popular machine in the Hird access platform hire fleet.
The KISS Principle and was championed in the US Navy in the 1960s, to remind engineers to keep processes simple, to give them the best chance of success.

When Hinowa set about designing the 23.12 IIIS, which is in its Lightlift spider boom range, its guiding principle was to make it as simple as possible to operate effectively and safely.
Easy of operation comes as standard
That means all four stabilising legs can be deployed quickly at the same time at the touch of one button. They then automatically level the tracked spider boom. The stabilisers can be retracted just as easily.
Basket weight selection – from 120kg to 200kg – is also automatic, which prevents the possibility of basket overloading.
It has easy-to-use wireless remote control, so the Hinowa 23.12 IIIS spider boom can be operated with precision and confidence.
Light weight and versatile
The tracked aerial platform is both light weight and has ample power delivered through a lithium battery pack, so it can stay on the job for longer between charge times.
At less than 2 metres in width it can be moved through areas where space is a very limited. It has a low-emissions diesel engine but can also be powered by electricity using a wandering cable.
The machine also has excellent working at height capability – with a maximum working height of 23 metres and an impressive outreach of 11.4 metres.
It is an ideal spider boom hire option for work on uneven or unstable ground, such as on construction sites, or off-road areas, as well as for building and structure maintenance.
The Hinowa 23.12 IIIS has a full on-board diagnostic system and the ability to remotely identify faults.
Excellent training and support from Hird
Okay, so the machine is simple to use. That does not mean just anyone can operate it.
