New Hird floor crane delivers performance double

Hird is giving its materials lifting customers two new industry-leading mini floor cranes in one with the Wienold MFC750.

It goes on show in the UK for the first time at the Executive Hire Show taking place at the Ricoh Arena, in Coventry, on Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9 February 2017.

The counterbalance floor crane is available exclusively from mini crane, glass lifting and access hire specialist Hird.

It is expected to impress visitors from the facilities management, building fit-out and construction sectors needing a crane that combines easy-to-use, highly compact design and impressive lifting performance.

One of the key advantages of the Wienold MFC750 is that it is, in effect, two counterbalance mini floor cranes in one.

In its MFC 750Ks set-up – known as the Shorty – it is just 650mm wide and 1200mm long, yet can lift up to 500kg.

It can also be adapted on-site by adding extension legs, that turn it into the MFC 750K, with a maximum lift capacity of 750kg. Yet it is still only 1800mm long.

Hird’s glass lifting team worked with German manufacturer Wienold to design the mini floor crane.

Hird Director John Wilding says: “Our aim was simple. Create a mini floor crane that is as compact as possible, but which can lift as much as possible.

“No other counterbalance floor crane in the UK can do what the MFC750 can do in terms of flexibility, compactness and lift performance.

“In fact, for that size of load it can lift, we think it is quite probably the best-performing mini floor crane in the world.”

The MFC750’s ultra-short wheelbase has already been used to good effect to install glazing panels at BBC White City, in West London.

John Wilding explains: “In its Shorty mode, it was the only machine in the UK small enough to be positioned between the roof edge and a maintenance rail.

“When fitted with a Minifor TR50 materials hoist and an MRT4 vacuum lifter, it was ideal for lifting and installing glass panels throughout an inner quadrangle.”

The MFC 750 is perfect for office, showroom and shop-front glazing and maintenance. It is also well-suited to material lifting on construction sites.

The mini floor crane has a maximum hook height of 3.05m. The boom extends in eight 120mm increments to 1200mm.

It can be quickly and easily assembled and disassembled, and will fit in a standard lift.

For both models, lockable swivel castors are fitted as standard. All terrain front tyres are available to reduce ground loading and improve manoeuvrability.

For additional stability, lateral outriggers are available for both models.

You can view the Wienold MFC750 mini floor crane, along with other innovative lifting equipment available for hire and sale at the Hird stand.

Hird services are available across the UK via its three operational hubs.
