Hird’s national transport fleet achieves Silver FORS standard
Hird has achieve an important accreditation hat-trick, by achieving Silver accreditation for the whole of its transport fleet, under the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) for London.
The success proves that the mini crane hire and sales, glass and materials handling and powered access provider’s transport fleet meets recognised higher quality standards for operating in London.
The scheme, operated by Transport for London, is designed to support fleet operators that set high standards for public safety, business performance and environmental protection.
Under FORS, there are three standards, Bronze, Silver and Gold. Transport for London defines Silver and Gold FORS members as being high-quality operators who are committed to becoming safer, greener and more efficient.
The success means Hird’s Southern Depot, Central Depot and Northern Depot, in all hold the Silver FORS accreditation.
Achieving the Silver standard is helping Hird promote its hire and sales service in London for mini cranes, spider cranes, glazing robots, vacuum lifters and other glass handling equipment, plus powered access platforms, including cherry pickers and scissor lifts.
Many leading contractors in London now require suppliers to hold Bronze FORS accreditation when delivering to their sites, but Hird has gone one step further by gaining the Silver Accreditations
Hird Managing Director Phil Hird said:
“We are very pleased that our national transport operation has achieved the Silver Standard under FORS. Our clients value the assurance of working with partners who set the highest standards.”
Director John Wilding, who manages operations in London and the South East, said:
“Delivering and collecting this kind of equipment in London takes a lot of skill. Close attention to safety and respect for other road users is essential.
“Achieving Silver FORS accreditation reflects those standards and is one way our growing number of hire and sales clients can be sure they will get a safe and efficient transport service every time.”
To achieve Silver FORS accreditation, Hird passed a number of independent rigorous inspections across its sites and submitted documentation to prove that it achieved stringent standards under the FORS criteria’s of management, vehicles, drivers and operations, key performance indicators, CO2 emissions, accident rates and setting best driving practice.
Hird operates a national mini crane hire fleet. It also has a range of the latest glass handing equipment for hire, including glazing robots, glass vacuum lifters, and glass lifting accessories, plus a powered access rental fleet, with cherry pickers, scissor lifts and personnel lifts for hire.
Hird is the UK and Ireland authorised distributor for Valla mini cranes and Winlet glazing robots & 3B6 control systems.
