Product of the Month – Valla V210R pick and carry crane
There is something a little Bondish – James Bondish – about the Manitex Valla V210R pick and carry crane.
Which is why we have made it our Product of the Month for November.
It’s that swooshing curve of the cowling, down to ultra-modern, and rather determined-looking, LED headlights at the front of the beast.
Those unfeasibly large, non-marking front tyres definitely look like they mean business.
Bond could easily jump into the cab to fight off a giant AI robot with the hydraulic jib before squishing the baddie under those magnificent tyres.
Without leaving a mark of course.
New standards
And all done with less impact on the planet too. Because the Valla 210R is an electric pick and carry crane.
Flight of fancy over. Yet, if a mini crane was needed on a Bond movie set, we think the Valla V210R would fit in nicely.
It’s one of a new Valla V range of electric pick and carry cranes that set new standards in lifting – for performance, safety and sustainability.
And with a certain degree of Italian style.
In its fixed hook configuration, it has a maximum safe working load (SWL) of 21t, when fitted with an outrigger bar (20t on wheels only).
It has a maximum working height of 12m (SWL: 8t) and a maximum radius of 8.15m (SWL: 3.6t).
There are other configurations, which we will come on to.
Wireless remote control
The version in Hird’s crane hire fleet has an operator’s cab. It can also be operated, for both lifting and drive, by wireless remote control.
This gives the operator the option to stand in the best location to both move and position the crane in constrained space, and to control the lift.
The same crane is also available with wireless remote control only.
And as Hird is the UK and Ireland’s distributor for Valla Cranes, we can supply you with that version if it is preferred.
Ultra-compact design
A key attribute of the Valla V210R is its compactness. It is just 4490mm long – an Audi A4 car is longer – and 1980mm wide.
It is both shorter and narrower than a Valla 180 ES mini crane (L: 4690mm, W: 2200mm) which has a max SWL of 18t – 3t less than the V crane.
In fact, the Valla V210R pick and carry crane’s footprint is 14% smaller than the 18t Valla 180 ES.
Combined with an industry-leading tight turning circle, this size advantage helps greatly in very constrained spaces.
On top of that, the Valla V210R needs less headroom.
The top of the stowed boom is just 2000mm from the ground. That is the same height as the Valla 50E mini crane, with a max SWL of 5t.
Flexible lifting
Another key design principle for the Valla V210R pick and carry crane, and all other V cranes, is lifting flexibility.
For example, getting back to those lifting configurations, the mini crane can also be fitted with a hydraulic jib.
That extends its working height to 15.2m, with a SWL of 3t with the outrigger bar and 2.4t without.
The hydraulic jib extends the radius to 10.75m, at which point the max SWL is still a meaty 3t.
Finally, Hird can supply the Valla V210R compact industrial crane with a fork attachment.
This provides a maximum SWL of 10t, a maximum working height of 11.7m (SWL: 4t) and a maximum working radius of 9.3m (SWL: 1.4t).
Another option available is a combined winch and hook block.
The mini crane has a negative degree boom, which means it can lift directly from the ground.
Reliable performance
As an electric crane it provides zero-emissions lifting and a small carbon footprint. It can also be used flexibly for both indoor and outdoor lifting.
And, thanks to its advanced batteries, it can be relied on to maintain its performance over long periods and has fast-charging capabilities.
Flexibility is also the watchword when it comes to lifting tasks for the Valla V210R. Factory machinery moving, construction site installation, steel erection, glass lifting and installation, engineering maintenance, and artwork installation are all projects the pick and carry crane is designed to perform with aplomb.
All lifting operations carried out by Valla V cranes are supported by the latest package of safety and digital load control features.
Expanding range
Other ‘V’ cranes in Hird pick and carry crane hire fleet are the Valla V36R, with a maximum SWL of 3.6t, and the Valla V80R, with a maximum SWL of 8t. Both are operated by wireless remote control.
