Product of the Month – Hydraulica 1500 Curved
Glass lifting would be so much easier if it only involved flat glass that came in standard shapes. But, of course, it does not. Which is where Hird’s Hydraulica 1500 Curved comes into its own.
The glass vacuum lifter is our Product of the Month for December and has been created in response to the trend to construct buildings that do not come in straight lines – and look all the more impressive for it.
Architects are always pushing what is possible. Technical engineers are just as keen to find smart solutions to construction conundrums. The upshot is the need for ever more advanced glass lifting equipment.
Here at Hird, we’re determined to keep up with advances in glass installation and get ahead of the game – and the Hydraulica 1500 Curved is an example of that process in action.
The vacuum glass lifter has a maximum working load of 1,500kg and is designed specifically to lift large panels of curved or irregularly shaped glass.
It can be operated with its full complement of 60 suction cups, or suction cups can be isolated and switched off to allow the lifting of irregular glass sheets or panels.
The glass lifter can be combined with a mini crane, like the Maeda tracked spider cranes available from Hird, or a mobile crane or tower crane.
The Hydraulica 1500 Curved also has excellent safety features, including dual independent vacuum circuits and low vacuum alert.
Just as important for glass lifting safety and productivity, the vacuum lifter’s operation system is designed to make glass manipulation and installation as easy as possible, with minimal manual handling.
The machine can be controlled from a cabled remote control unit so a glass lifting operative can position themselves in the ideal location to view and control the lift.
The glass lifter has powered rotation through 360 degrees and powered tilting through 90 degree, allowing the load to be placed with precision.
Hird’s glass vacuum lifter clients have used the Hydraulica 1500 Curved to install curved sections of structural glass and elements like curved doors in office and retail atriums.
It is one of a range of Hydraulica powerful glass vacuum lifters in Hird’s glass lifting hire fleet. For example, we offer a Hydraulica 1000 for loads up to 1,000kg plus a Hydraulica 1200 glass lifter and a Hydraulica 1200 Curved (which has 48 suction cups), both with a maximum lifting capacity of 1,200kg.
Customers can also hire a Hydraulica 1500 glass vacuum lifter for standard glazing panels, and a Hydraulica 3500, known as Brutus, for panels weighing up to 3.5t.
Lifting curved glass sheets and panels often requires extra planning and focus. Thanks to machines like Hird’s Hydraulica 1500 Curved, that is not because safety or manual handling standards have been lowered in any way.
Don’t let your glass lifting project throw you a curved ball. Call today to find out how we can help you accommodate the irregularities of glass and curtain wall installation. Hird also provides accredited glass lifter operator training.
