First look at the Maeda MC-815 mini crane
Hird was the first company in the world to place an order for the new Maeda MC-815 mini crane – and here’s the first chance to get a good look at what we have bought.
It is the largest tracked mini crane ever built by Maeda – and takes spider crane technology to new heights in more ways than one.
Maeda unveiled the first MC-815 at Bauma, in Munich, Germany, a machine that Hird had snapped up straight off the production line – serial number 00001.
Mini crane hire
The spider crane pictured is not that particular machine, but it shows what this very capable mini crane is all about, and why it is a great addition to the Hird mini crane hire fleet.
The MC-815 has a maximum lifting capacity of 8 tonnes at a radius of 2.4 metres, and a five-section boom that can reach out to 19.4 metres.
The spider crane has an optional two section 1,500kg capacity telescopic jib, which increases the maximum lifting height to 25.5 metres.
A 1,000kg all-new searcher hook is also available.
Spider crane versatility
Hird is expecting these spider cranes to be in demand across a number of sectors, including glass installation, steel erection, and facilities maintenance.
A key feature of the new mini cranes is joystick control replacing the standard four levers, and a new 10.4-inch multi-function touch-screen monitor.
It also has a new HBC Technos A fully-remote radio telemetry system.
Remote controls
The MC-815 spider crane can be operated from a seat on the crane or be fully remote controlled. It’s remotely self-levelling and can be automatically stowed.
It is a bi-energy mini crane is fully EU Stage 3 compliant.
