Modern construction techniques allow buildings to go up FAST – which is why our Product of the Month for August is the Righetti CL1-6 cladding lifter.
There is no better example of speed of construction than the building of giant sheds that are springing up along motorways all across the UK.
One moment there is an empty space. The next time you pass by there is a vast oblong warehouse large enough to house a fleet of Saturn V rockets.
Construction technology has to constantly find new ways to keep up with our insatiable demand to buy stuff online one day, and expect it to be delivered the next.
Hird’s Righetti CL1-6 cladding lifter is part of that innovation response. Most sheds – as modern warehouses are called – are made by erecting a steel frame, then covering it in cladding.
The Righetti CL1-6 cladding lifter is a vacuum lifter cleverly designed to lift cladding panels of many different shapes and sizes, and even different textures.
Cladding lifter benefits
Here are just three advantages the Righetti CL1-6 delivers:
- Much less manual handling, making the movement of large cladding sheets much safer for all operatives involved.
- Greatly reduced risk of the cladding panel (or other structures) being damaged. The Righetti CL1-6 cladding vacuum lifter is designed to hold the panel securely without leaving so much as a scratch.
- Excellent control – while holding a panel, the Righetti CL1-6 cladding lifter can rotate it or tilt it thought 90 degrees – so one operative can ensure it is placed in the perfect position for fixing to a structure every time.
Hird is the UK and Ireland distributor for Righetti products, which is why we can offer the CL1-6 cladding lifter for hire or for sale.
Demand for the specialist vacuum lifters is growing fast. To be honest, given the extraordinary growth in the square footage of sheds in the UK, there is little wonder.
The UK is in the midst of a record-breaking boom in the construction of mega sheds, all driven by the online retail market, given a boost by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Warehouse floorspace greater than twice the size of Hyde Park in London was due to be added in 2021 alone.
One million square feet ‘Mega Sheds’ – 13 times the size of the Wembley pitch – are becoming increasingly common.
Speed, ease of construction, and safety are major concerns for cladding installers – and Righetti cladding lifters deliver on all three.
The Righetti CL1-6 vacuum lifter has six suction pads, each one 800mm long and 120mm wide.
These are designed to fit into the trapezoidal grooved sections of most cladding panels and to also to lift micro-ribbed panels, another common design feature.
It can be configured in a number of different ways to lift roof panels or wall panels of varying sizes.
For example, when set up in a wall configuration, an extension arm can be added that makes the cladding lifter 6490mm long.
The Righetti CL1-6 has a maximum lifting capacity of 400kg and is battery powered with an onboard 110v charger.
Maximising safety is a key concern, as with all Righetti vacuum lifter products. It is why the cladding lifter has independent dual circuit vacuum systems.
That means, if one circuit fails, the other one will continue to hold the load, protecting operative, the cladding panel and surrounding structures.
Also, if the operative needs to control the cladding panel lift from a remote position, there is the option of using a wireless remote control to do so.
The Righetti CL1-6 cladding lifter weighs between 134kg and 213kg, depending on its configuration, and has a transport stand to easily move the it to a lifting location and to store it.
Mini crane options
It is just one in a range of Righetti cladding lifters available for hire and sale from Hird. They include the Righetti CL1-4, which has a capacity of 250kg and the CL-W, which can lift 375kg.
They can also be used in conjunction with mobile cranes or counterbalance material lifts, like the GML800+, which has a maximum safe working load of 800kg, and is also available for hire from Hird.
With cladding an increasingly popular option for house, apartment, and office building, Righetti cladding lifters are in their element.
Cladding lifter hire
Warehouse building is still a key driving force.
The value of UK online sales is expected to rise to £105 billion by 2024. Every £billion added to the total is calculated to need the equivalent of another 1m sq ft warehouse to meet demand.
Next time you click to buy, a Righetti CL1-6 cladding lifter may have played a part in making it possible.
