Product of the Month – Hydraulica 2100 Curved vacuum lifter

Product of the Month – Hydraulica 2100 Curved vacuum lifter

Hird has improved its heavyweight glass vacuum lifter hire range still further with the addition of the Hydraulica 2100 Curved.

The glass vacuum lifter, manufactured by Kappel, is one of the latest lifters in the Hydraulica range and can lift curved and irregular-shaped glass panels as well as flat glass.

The lifter has a lifting capacity of 2.1t, which is greater than the kerb weight of a Ford Transit Custom van.

Concave and convex lifting

We are so impressed with the glass vacuum lifter’s performance that we have made it our Product of the Month for November.

The Hydraulica 2100 Curved glass vacuum lifter has 3600 continuous powered rotation and hydraulic tilting between vertical to horizontal axes.

The lifter is powered by a 24v rechargeable battery with an integral charger or can be operated with 110v/240v mains power.

It has a cabled remote control to allow the operator to position themselves precisely to have the best view of the lift.

The Hydraulica 2100 Curved can lift from both the concave and convex side of panels. A key capability is being able to shut off suction cups, as required, to accommodate panels with irregular shapes.

Safe glass lifting

It also has quad circuit safe technology, as well as a low vacuum alert.

This means it has four independent vacuum systems (most smaller glass vacuum lifters have two). So, even if more than one vacuum systems fail for any reason, the load with still be held safely in place.

The 2100 Curved is just the latest, and highest capacity, curved lifter in the Hird glass vacuum lifter hire range, all manufactured by Kappel.

Being able to use vacuum lifters to install curved glass panels, and ones with irregular shapes, is becoming increasingly important because of the increased use of architectural curved glass in modern buildings.

Architectural glass

Curved glass does not just add a wow factor to buildings, it actually adds strength. The architectural qualities of these panels allows structures to be simplified, speeding up construction, with few parts to maintain. It also creates stunning buildings.

The challenge is installing curved glass safely, quickly and with the precision needed to meet the ultra-fine performance parameters required to build with structural glass.

Hird’s Hydraulica 2100 Curved is designed to do this brilliantly.

All our specialist curved glass vacuum lifters are ideally combined with mini cranes also available for hire from Hird.

They include the Valla pick and carry crane range and Maeda spider cranes. Both types of crane are an excellent match for glass installation projects of all kinds.

Sustainable glass lifting

Working together, mini cranes and glass vacuum lifters present a highly sustainable glass installation solution in a number of key ways:

  • They allow glass panels to be installed with precision and maximum safety, reducing the risk of panels or surrounding structural features being damaged
  • They allow glass to be installed with minimal manual handling and with smaller installation teams, saving both costs and reducing the risk of injury
  • Glass can be installed more quickly and flexibly with less disruption to other activities on a construction site, enhancing productivity and controlling costs
  • The glass vacuum lifters are all-electric machines and Hird can also supply electric battery powered mini cranes, providing fume-free lifting with a minimised carbon footprint

Hydraulica 8000 – exciting development

Hird has also added the Hydraulica 8000 glass vacuum lifter to its heavy lifter range, with a maximum lifting capacity of 8t. Look out for details about this exciting vacuum lifter, which will be released soon.

Hird provides accredited mini crane (A66 Compact Crane) and RTITB glass vacuum lifter training if it is required.
