Product of the Month – Valla V80R pick and carry crane

Product of the Month – Valla V80R pick and carry crane

Sometimes you have to just have to step back and take a moment to appreciate the scale of the advantage a new piece of equipment gives you.

That is certainly the case with our Product of the Month for February, the Valla V80R pick and carry crane.

It is one of the newest cranes in the Hird mini crane hire fleet so you would expect it to have some smart features that make it a bit more special than the cranes that have gone before it.

Compact credentials

But the Valla V80R takes mini crane development to a whole new level. Or should we say, whole new lower level.

That is because the pick and carry crane is one of the most compact, if not the most mini cranes currently on the market.

The Valla V80R is small crane, without in any way compromising its ability to lift heavy and bulky loads.

One good reason is because it does not have a cab. It is one of Valla’s new V range of cranes, which are controlled remotely with a wireless console.

In means the operator can step back and place themselves in the very best position to make best use of the crane’s capabilities – moving it, setting it up, controlling the lift, and carrying a load, when necessary.

Challenging lifts

If circumstances change, the operator can move to a new position. And again. And again. Until the lift is completed.

This is particularly useful when you consider the Valla V80R is already being used by Hird cranes hire customers on some of the most challenging lifts in the business.

Not least because it is so compact. Compare the pick and carry crane to the Valla 75E. Also, a very good crane in its own right, just not quite as compact.

The Valla 75E has a maximum safe working load (SWL) of 7.5t, compared with the Valla V80R’s 8t.

But the Valla V80R is appreciably shorter, narrower, and has a more compact height than the Valla 75E. So, if you have to carry out a lift in highly constrained space, it is the perfect choice.

Exceptional performance

In its standard configuration the Valla V80R has a maximum safe working load of 8t, can lift 2t at its maximum working height of 9m, and 1.3t at its maximum radius of 5.5 metres.

As an electric battery crane, the Valla V80R also provides highly-sustainable zero-emissions, low-noise and low carbon footprint lifting, so is just as effective in outdoor and indoor environments – it has non-marking tyres.

Also adding to its usefulness the ability to combine the pick and carry crane with a range of accessories.

Jib and forks

They include a hydraulic fly jib (maximum SWL of 3t) which extends the tip height to 11.3m (SWL of 1t) and radius to 7.5m (SWL of 750kg).

The pick and carry crane can also be fitted with self-levelling forks, with a maximum SWL of 3t, a maximum working height of 8.7m (SWL of 1t) and maximum radius of 6.7m (SWL of 380kg).

The Valla V80R is so flexible it is probably easier to say what it cannot lift rather than what it can.

Tasks it is used to carry out include machinery moving and glass installations, when combined with Hird’s huge range of glass lifting vacuum lifters. The mini crane is also ideal for building maintenance and art installation projects.

Crane operator training

Hird can supply the Valla V80R for hire with, or without, a qualified and highly experienced mini crane operator, and as part of a full contract lift if required.
