Rail equipment manufacturer buys second Valla mini crane
Leading rail plant engineering solutions provider Rail-Ability has taken delivery of a second Valla pick and carry mini crane as it expands its UK manufacturing capacity.
Hird has supplied the company, based in Stafford, Staffordshire, with a Valla 120E mini crane, fitted with a hydraulic fly jib with a 40 degree sweep.
Rail-Ability is already operating a Valla 110E mini crane, which Hird has fully-overhauled.
Hird is the UK and Ireland authorised distributor for Valla mini cranes, which are manufactured in Italy by Manitex Valla, the world’s leading pick and carry crane company.
Matthew Evans, Rail-Ability’s workshop manager, said: “Our Valla 110 pick and carry crane has given us excellent service.
“So when we needed another crane after opening a second depot, asking Hird to supply a second Valla mini crane was a natural step.
“Valla cranes are reliable and high quality machines that get the job done for us, and Hird gives us excellent support.”
The reconditioned Valla 120E Hird supplied to Rail-Ability is an electric mini crane, so provides fume-free operation for indoor working.
It has a maximum safe lifting load of 12 tonnes, is fitted with a 3B6 load monitoring system for safe and efficient load handling, and has non-marking tyres.
Hird mini crane sales and after sales manager Carl Cooper said: “Rail-Ability needed a pick and carry crane suited to working in confined spaces.
“The hydraulic fly jib provides additional reach in low-level operation, something Rail-Ability was very much looking for.
“A significant amount of its work involves building and breaking down plant and machinery.
“They wanted a machine that can provide fast, safe, precision lifting, which is just what Valla mini cranes deliver.”
Rail-Ability is one of three main UK manufacturers and converters of small batches of specialist machinery for use in rail maintenance work.
Its products include road-rail excavators, material handlers and aerial platforms, as well as a range of machinery attachments.
Hird had supplied the Valla 110E, also an electric-powered mini crane, about seven years ago. It has now been fully-serviced and repainted.
