Hird Training
Before using any form of powered access, mini crane, forklift truck or any other type of machine, employers must ensure that their operators are suitably qualified to do so.
Hird’s training department, ‘Hird Training’, offers a wide range of training courses to its customers to help them work in a safe manner.
The portfolio of operator training courses has broken down into six key areas. These are:
- Lifting courses
- Working at height courses
- Health & safety courses
- Forklift truck courses
- Construction plant courses
- NVQ assessments
He said: “All of our courses are extremely popular and it is good to see Hird Training getting busier all the time with record numbers of enquiries coming in. We have been delivering a significant number of IPAF powered access training courses recently, and if this means people are waking up to safety, then that is a huge positive step in the right direction towards a safer working culture.”
Hirds’ IPAF courses include 1a static vertical, 1b static boom (van mount and lorry mount), 3a mobile vertical (scissor lift), 3b mobile boom (cherry picker) and harness inspection.
Safety training courses are delivered from its Northern Depot, in Hull, the Central Depot, in Doncaster, or the new Southern Depot just outside London. Alternatively, courses can be delivered at customers’ sites, as long as facilities are suitable.
Accredited by IPAF, PASMA, and RTITB to deliver training courses, Hirds is also a fully accredited test centre for the Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS). This card scheme is designed to prove the skills of plant operators – and is the largest and most recognised scheme of its kind in the plant industry.
All training courses are available at highly competitive rates and can also be tailored to suit individual trainee or company needs.
