Cranes, spiders and vacuum lifters – Hird goes to Vertikal Days
Hird will have one of its biggest and most diverse range of equipment on display at Vertikal Days next month.
Pick and carry cranes, specialist vacuum lifters and powered access platforms will be on show at what organisers bill as Europe’s biggest lifting event.
A team of Hird experts will also be on hand at the East of England Showground, Peterborough, on Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th of May 2023 to explain how it all works and talk to visitors about their lifting needs.

Oil&Steel access platforms
Hird’s role as UK distributor for Italian powered access manufacturer Oil&Steel will be represented with two spider lifts and a truck-mounted platform.
The SNAKE 2010H Plus truck-mounted platform Hird is taking to the show has a maximum working height of 20m, a maximum outreach of 10.2m and a basket capacity of 225kg.
Based on a 3.5t IVECO van chassis, it can be driven and operated with a car licence, making it very popular with both rental fleets and owner operators. Fast set up and stow functions maximises productivity.
Alongside the SNAKE 2010H Plus will be two Oil&Steel spider boom lifts, the Octoplus 17 and Octoplus 21.
Both are ideal for gaining access to work areas through narrow and height-restricted openings, and working over low load bearing ground.
The Octoplus 17 has a maximum working height of 17m and a maximum outreach of 7.6m, with a tracking width of just 785mm and a basket capacity of 250kg.
The Octoplus 21 has a maximum working height of 20.7m and a maximum outreach of10.6m, with the same tracking width, 785mm, and basket capacity, 250kg.
In both cases, the lithium battery versions of the spider platforms will be on the Hird stand.
All models can also be fitted with low-emission diesel or petrol engines and as bi-energy platforms, with the addition of 110v mains electric power.
Valla pick and carry cranes
Hird’s expertise and experience as one of the UK’s leading mini crane sales specialists will be represented by the presence of two Manitex Valla pick and carry cranes – the Valla V110R and Valla V36R.
Both form part of Valla’s exciting new all-electric V range of cranes, which are more compact than ever before and have smart new functionality to make lifting even easier and safer in the most challenging spaces.
The Valla V36R pick and carry crane has a maximum safe working load of 3.6t, a maximum working height of 7.1m and a maximum working radius of 4.8m. It is also just 900mm wide and 2465mm long, and wireless remote controlled.
The Valla V110R has a SWL of 11t, a working height of 10m and a radius of 6.2m. It, too, is operated by wireless remote control but can also be supplied with a ride-on cab. Like the Valla V36R it is also very compact. It is shorter and narrower than a Mini car.
The Hird team will also be showing off specialist materials lifting and carrying equipment that significantly enhances productivity and safety on construction sites.
Also on display will be a Winlet ErgoMover Lift & Go battery electric powered materials trolley that can carry loads up to 1500kg.
It has a hydraulic flatbed for lifting materials, such as plasterboard onto and from trestles.
It includes a Righetti CL-W cladding lifter, which has a 1000mm x 500mm suction pad for lifting cladding panels weighing up to 375kg, and rotating and tilting them through 900 for precision installation.
