Three of the best – innovative lifting solutions a hit with buyers

Innovative lifting equipment is proving a hit with glass installation companies looking to boost productivity, safety, and capability.

That’s the conclusion we have drawn from lifting equipment sales made by Hird in recent weeks.

Glass lifting equipment is developing rapidly, both in terms of lifting capacity and the capability of equipment on the market, and Hird is at the forefront of offering these innovative lifting machines for sale.

Here are excellent examples of the trend – three pieces of lifting equipment sold recently, primarily to customers who will use them to lift and install glass.

That said, the good thing about modern vacuum lifting equipment is that it can be used to lift a range of non-porous materials, including sheet plastic and metal, stone, and plasterboard.

Oktopus GL-KN -1000 vacuum lifter

Hird sold one of these excellent vacuum lifters, made by German firm Wirth, to a world-leading glass manufacturer that needed a glass handling machine which had excellent capacity, reliability and the latest safety features.

The Oktopus GL-KN -1000 vacuum lifter is compact and light weight but can still lift up to 1,000kg. Now available with a remotely controlled vacuum system, it gives the operator greater flexibility.

It has dual independent vacuum circuits, with two vacuum reserve tanks and two non-return valves, which means that the load will not fall even if the vacuum system fails.

The Oktopus GL-KN – 1000 also has extension arms that can be quickly fitted to handle larger loads.

MRTA8 vacuum lifter

A second client has also invested in an MRTA8 vacuum lifter supplied by Hird. This new vacuum lifter, from Powr-Grip, is an upgrade of the ever-popular MRTA6 vacuum lifter, so was always going to be a winner.

It has a lifting capacity of 635kg, yet weighs just 91kg. It can rotate its load through 360 degrees, and can tilt it through 90 degrees.

The MRTA8 vacuum lifter can also be fitted with Powr-Grip’s new Intelli-Grip system. This helps the operator manage the load safely, while conserving battery life, to extend operational performance.

MFC750Ks – 500kg Lifiting Capacity

The same client has also taken delivery of an MFC 750 mini floor crane, which combines excellent lifting capacity with an easy-to-use operating system, and a highly-compact, rugged design.

Manufactured by Wienold, the MFC 750K is a counterbalance floor crane that is proving ideal for operating on roof spaces, which often have restrictive safety railing and window cleaning systems.

The MFC 750K has a maximum lifting capacity of 750kg. When fitted with a winch and a glass vacuum lifter, these mini floor cranes can lift glass, façade and curtain walling panels up the side of buildings precisely to where they need to be installed.

Then, thanks to their compact design, they can be moved quickly to the next location, with minimal fuss. The machine can also be quickly adapted, by removing its extension legs to make it even more compact.

In this configuration, it can still lift 500kg. The MFC 750K mini floor crane is quick and simple to assemble and disassemble for transporting to and from worksites, and can be fitted with all-terrain wheels.
