Hird Training has been delivering health & safety training courses for local and national companies for over 25 years. At the head of the training department of the Hull based company is Training Manager, Richard Dainty.
Arriving at Hirds in June 2008, Richard previously spent 14 years in the Army, serving in places such as Northern Ireland and Bosnia, before going on to work as a Training Manager at a forklift company.
Richard says he has got some exciting plans for developing Hird Training, which are already underway: “Hird Training delivers courses accredited under RTITB, IPAF, PASMA, CPCS and NPORS. We have also just become an accredited NPORS (National Plant Operators Registration Scheme) centre, as my colleague Tony Armitage and I have qualified as NPORS instructors.
“Over the next 12 to 18 months, the Hird safety training team, will be looking at increasing the qualifications they can deliver.”
Hird Training offers RTITB courses for counterbalance forklift, reach truck, rough terrain masted forklift, rough terrain telescopic, sideloader, combi truck, pallet truck, pallet stacker and forklift instructor training.
The company’s IPAF courses include 1a static vertical, 1b static boom (van mount and lorry mount), 3a mobile vertical (scissor lift), 3b mobile boom (cherry picker) and harness instructor. Hird Training can also deliver safety courses for dumpers, mini diggers, compact cranes, manual handling.
Richard Dainty said: “The Hird safety training team will soon be launching the new driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) training course for LGV drivers who drive professionally throughout the UK. It is a legal requirement that involves all professional drivers undertaking 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years.
“With our suite of training courses expanding, the training team is looking forward to expanding its services to other Hird depots. We aim to deliver more IPAF training courses in 2012 through our Central and Southern depots.”
Training courses are carried out at one of the purpose built Hird training centres or at your own site, if facilities are suitable. Most courses can be tailored to suit production requirements and business needs.
