Spider cranes – the mini crane that will put a smile on your face
Introducing the ‘little and large’ duo of the spider crane market – but the UNIC URW 094 and the UNIC URW 706 spider cranes will do more than put a smile on your face.
The two machines represent the smallest and largest spider cranes in the Hird spider crane hire fleet, and perfectly prove just why they are so versatile.
The UNIC URW 094 is the smallest spider crane in the Hird fleet but its lifting capacity and range of sophisticated but simple-to-operate features make it a popular machine.
It has a lift capacity of 995kg which is just 5kg shy of its weight. It is perfect for operating in confined spaces.
In its transport configuration, the UNIC URW 094 can get through single doorways with ease.
This spider crane also has configurable outriggers and radio remote controlled operation so is quick and easy to set up and put to work.
At the other end of the scale, the UNIC URW 706 can lift 6 tonnes and has a fly jib and searcher hook that extends its 19.2m boom length to give a maximum hook height of over 22m, and allows precise positioning.
It has a range of safety features including an intelligent voice warning system, an over-winding alarm and a computer-controlled moment limiter (safe load indicator).
Despite its size, the URW 706 can still get through a standard double doorway.
Hird’s spider crane fleet can also fill in the gaps in between, with a range of machines to suit all lift applications, so flexibility is guaranteed.
Spider cranes have a range of uses, such as steel erection and machinery or building maintenance. Hird spider cranes were used to lift glass panels on the Shard, Western Europe’s tallest building.
Both models have crawler tracks making them perfect for travelling over uneven ground.
