Hird gives Humber Street Sesh a lift with cherry picker loan
When working at height meets live music in Hull – there you will find a Hird cherry picker.
Hird was more than pleased to support the Humber Street Sesh, a well-established one day music festival attended by 15,000 people in the heart of the Hull Marina.
The founder, Mike Page, called on Hird, whose HQ is less than half a mile away, to assist with urgent work to set up the festival site.
Community benefits
Hird Managing Director Phil Hird said: “We were very happy to help. The Humber Street Sesh is part of Hull’s cultural heritage.
“It’s kept its roots firmly in the local community and Mike has done a fantastic job making it happen every year within a tight budget.
“So, providing a cherry picker for some of the set-up work free-of-charge was the least we could do for an event that benefits so many local businesses and is enjoyed by thousands of people.”
The Humber Street Sesh, held on Saturday 13th August, returned to Humber Street for the first time since 2019.
In 2020, it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and in 2020 it found a temporary home in Hull’s Queens Gardens, where it was dubbed the Inner City Sesh.
Local talent
The festival champions up and coming musicians and bands from East Yorkshire and across the UK – and this year was headlined by local group Low Hummer, now enjoying international success.
Hird is no stranger to other musical festivals and events across the UK. Its cherry pickers and scissor lifts are regularly hired to set up stages, along with sound and lighting systems.
The company is also always willing to do what it can to support good causes in East Yorkshire and beyond.
CatZero crane lift
In recent months it donated the use of one of its Maeda spider cranes to carry out vital maintenance on the CatZero, a charity-owned ocean-going yacht based in Hull.
It provides sailing experiences for disadvantaged people from across the Humber region, helping more than 2,000 build confidence and overcome personal challenges over the last 12 years.
The cherry picker donated to the Humber Street Sesh was a Genie Z-45/25 rough terrain platform with a maximum working height of 15.9m, a maximum outreach of 7.5m, and a 227kg basket capacity.
