Product of the Month – Kappel DSKE2 vacuum lifter

Product of the Month – Kappel DSKE2 vacuum lifter

Our Product of the Month is a bit of a lightweight. But in the best possible way. Because it is the Kappel DSKE2 vacuum lifter.

Every glass lifting contractor has their go-to vacuum lifter. The one that they know will get the job done, with no fuss, easy as you like.

Our Kappel DSKE2 is one of our glass vacuum lifters that is rapidly fitting that bill because it combines great functionality with excellent performance.

The first thing to say is that this is a light weight lifter. It weighs just 45kg or 55kg, depending on its configuration, but can lift loads up to 450kg.

Light lifter

Being lighter, it is easier to handle and transport on its trolley stand. And it will take up less of the capacity of your lifting system, leaving more for the important bit, the glass.

The Kappel DSKE2 is an in line vacuum lifter that can be set up in two ways – as a four cup vacuum lifter or a six cup vacuum lifter with the easy and quick attachment of extension arms.

This gives glass installation teams greater flexibility with panels of different sizes or shapes, allowing one glass lifter to cope with a range of different loads.

In the four-cup setting the vacuum lifter can lift up to 300kg and with all six cups in place, the capacity is boosted to the full 450kg.

Flexibility is further enhanced with the addition of a short-eye hook, making it easier to install glass using the DSKE2 under soffits and overhangs. It also makes the glass lifter ideal for installing glass in overlights.

Safe lifting

As with all Kappel vacuum lifters, safety is to the fore. The vacuum system is dual circuit – it has two pumps and two vacuum tanks. So if one system fails, the other will hold the load.

There is also a visual and audible low vacuum alert, all adding to operator confidence when using the kit.

Talking about safety, manual handling is reduced to a minimum because the DSKE2 vacuum lifter has 360-degree load rotation and 90-degree load tilt, making it easier to control glass ready for installation.

The vacuum lifter is controlled using a wired remote control which has a two-button suction release, another feature that supports safe lifting.
