Remember the shock created when BMW launched its new Mini? It’s too big, everyone said. It isn’t a squeeze to get in! Well, we’re tempting the same fate with our Product of the Month for February, because it is the Manitex Valla 250E pick and carry crane.
Valla pick and carry cranes are, obviously, mini cranes. They have all the features that lifting professional look for in such a machine. They can operate in confined spaces, their lifting capacity is impressive in comparison to their weight, and they can complete many different lifting tasks, flexibly and safely.
But just like BMW’s Mini continues to challenge convention – you can now get even bigger Minis, that look a bit like they’ve been inflated with helium – so, Valla is extending its range with the 250E compact crane. Yes, it is still compact. More on that in a moment.
Introducing the ‘big’ small crane
The Valla 250E is an electric industrial pick and carry crane that could give our clients a much more flexible, sustainable, and cost-effective alternative to hiring in mobile cranes, or even using static tower cranes, on a range of lifting projects.
Especially on industrial sites, and many modern construction sites, there is a greater need for flexible lifting to cope with the demands, for example, of maintaining complex, integrated production systems, and modular construction systems.
In these environments, large pick and carry cranes can complete more types of lifting projects faster and more flexibly, and just as safely as mobile cranes.
These beefed-up compact cranes can also run rings around a tower crane – literally – to completing a variety of lifting tasks across a work site. And they can do it indoors, as well as outdoors, something a tower crane cannot do.
Valla 250E – impressive mini crane performance
The pick and carry crane has a safe lifting weight of 25 tonnes. At full boom extension of just under 10 metres, it can lift 1.9 tonnes, and with at a tip height of 13 metres it can lift 3.6 tonnes.
The mini crane is fitted with non-marking tyres, has sit-in operation, and is fitted with the latest COBO 3B6 load monitoring system, giving visual and audible load safety alerts.
Now, back to the Valla 250E pick and carry crane being a compact crane. It is just 2150mm wide – which is actually 50mm narrower than the Valla 180E which it has usurped as the biggest mini crane on the block. Also, at 4832mm – front bumper to back bumper – it is just 142mm longer, that’s less then six inches in old money.
The mini crane multi-tasker
We are absolutely sure that clients will be impressed with the Valla 250E pick and carry crane’s ability to make lifting easier, more sustainable, and more cost-effective.
Times are changing. BMW knew that when it introduced its Bloaty McMini Face Mini car in 2001. It’s extended size and roomier interior means the record for cramming adults in a new mini is 28, compared with 23 for a new mini.
The Valla 250E mini crane reflects a similar trend in the industrial compact crane market. Valla is responding to customer demand. The 250E pick and carry crane can complete tasks previously only a mobile crane or tower crane could do.
Load carrying capability adds to flexibility
Also, it can do it more sustainable, with zero emissions, reduced energy costs, less manual handling and fewer discreet lift tasks (improving safety), with less impact on surrounding operations, indoors and outdoors, and it provides load carrying capability.
Whether you want to hire our Valla 250E compact crane for work on construction sites, for steel erection, structure demolition, factory maintenance, or artwork installation, it could well make a BIG difference.
Call Hird today to ask about the Valla 250E pick and carry crane, and how it could make your lifting projects more effective, efficient, safer, and more cost-effective. We can also use it to carry out contract lifts on behalf of customers.
BMW didn’t stand still with its Mini. Maybe it is time to get out of the mobile crane or tower crane – and get on the move with a Valla pick and carry crane.
