Training Focus – RTITB below the hook vacuum lifter training

There is no such thing, anywhere in the universe, as the perfect vacuum – but Hird does offer an ideal vacuum lifter training course.

Our RTITB Below the Hook Vacuum Lifter training course is the subject of this month’s Hird Training Focus.

Vacuum lifters have become increasingly important in many industrial sectors for lifting, moving and installing a wide range of materials, including glass, metal, stone, plastic, composite board and concrete.

It is why our vacuum lifter training, a one-day course available at four Hird training centres across the UK, is also increasingly popular.

Many principle contractors will only allow vacuum lifter operatives onto their sites if they have completed the RTITB training course and have valid certification.

Vacuum quiz facts

First, back to vacuums and a bit of a did you know moment.

The best vacuums we know about are in deep, intergalactic space, where vacuums are calculated to be as low as 1 to 3 proton equivalent particles per cubic metre.

Even taking into account all the known matter in the universe, its average density is 5.9 proton equivalent particles per cubic metre.

By comparison, according to a boffin writing on Quora.com, the best vacuum achieved on earth is about 1012 particles per cubic metre, an order of 12 greater. We’ve got a long way to go to beat nature.

However, the vacuums achieved by the glass vacuum lifters hired by Hird are plenty good enough to lift loads weighing up to 3.5 tonnes, so gaining accredited training to use them makes a lot of sense.

Our RTITB below the hook vacuum lifter training course is designed to provide theoretical and practical instruction in the use of vacuum lifters commonly used in conjunction with cranes.

These might be tower cranes, mobile cranes, mini cranes, like the Valla pick and carry cranes and Maeda spider cranes supplied by Hird, or counterbalance floor cranes, like our Wienold MFC750K mini floor cranes.
