Product of the Month – Wienold MRC751 counterbalance floor crane
Anyone who watched the Paris Olympics will see that the ability to turn on the spot it an essential skill in many sports.
Gymnastics, BMX freestyle, canoeing and hammer throwing. They all require a good deal of twirling, as Bruce Forsyth once called it.
Which is why our Product of the Month for August can be said to have Olympian qualities when it comes to crane lifting, because it’s the Wienold MRC751 counterbalance floor crane.
Designed with Hird insights
The Wienold MRC751 is an upgraded version of the popular MFC750K mini floor crane, pictured right.
Its USP is that it can slew (we could say twirl, but some traditional crane professionals might take offence) through 3600 to support the safer picking up and putting down of loads.
The Hird team worked directly with colleagues at Wienold to design the Wienold MRC751, based on our experiences with clients who, we could see, would value using a mini floor crane that can slew its loads.
The counterbalance floor crane is highly compact, so works brilliantly in locations where space is constrained. The slewing function augments this capability perfectly.
Minimising lifting risks
It allows loads to be put down in the safest and most advantageous position, for example onto a trolley for onward movement. Or where the load can be most easily accessed and broken down.
Trying to manually handle loads in constrained space can be particularly risky, increasingly the chance of muscular-skeletal injuries and exposing operatives to trip, fall or collision hazards.
Therefore, the simple ability to swing the load through whatever angle is required can make materials handling both safer and simpler.
The Wienold MRC751 has two weight boxes and a maximum safe working load of 720kg. Its boom can be set at 11 different lengths up to a maximum boom extension of 160cm.
Boom extension accessory
For instance, with the boom at its shortest position, with an outreach of 20cm, the counterbalance floor crane can lift 720kg, whether fitted with one or two boxes.
At position 11 – with a maximum boom length of 160cm (measured from the front of the chassis) – the Wienold MRC751 has a SWL of 215kg (one weight box) or 341kg (two boxes).
The boom can also lifted hydraulically to provide a maximum lifting height, below the hook, of 2.91m.
Easy to transport
The Wienold MRC751 is easy to transport – the chassis can be moved around sites on large transport wheels that make light work of lumps and bumps, supported by multi-direction, lockable wheels.
Once in position for a lift the mini floor crane the extension legs can be quickly added to the chassis, along with one or two counterweight boxes.
The total weight of the Wienold MRC751, with all attachments, is 916kg.
The counterbalance floor crane can also be supplied with a boom extension attachment that increases its reach to a maximum 252cm, at which point it has a SWL of 177kg.
Many uses – training available
The Wienold MRC751 counterbalance floor crane can be combined with a range of lifting accessories, including winches, electric hoists, chain blocks, and vacuum glass lifters, all available for hire from Hird.
They have a wide range of uses, including:
- Lifting materials and equipment up and down the side of buildings;
- Glass lifting and installation;
- Cladding lifting and installation;
- Lifting machinery in factories and process plants.
Hird can also provide LEEA-accredited counterbalance floor crane training, combined with familiarity training, for lifting teams that want to take advantage of the benefits of using the Wienold MRC751 slewing mini crane on their sites.
It is available for hire from Hird across the UK via our three operational hubs – North, Central and South.
