Product of the Month – Kappel DSKZL2 glass vacuum lifter

So, say hello to our first Product of the Month of 2021, the Kappel DSKZL2 glass vacuum lifter. Or don’t, because it’s a glass vacuum lifter, and who says hello to one of those?
But do, please, take note of it. Because the Kappel DSKZL2 is a truly brilliant compact and slimline glass vacuum lifter that does not so much get you out of a lifting hole, but gets you into it.
Because, this glass lifter is designed specifically to be operated in very difficult-to-reach spaces.
Flexible vacuum lifter
It can be operated in two formats. In its most compact form, the DSKZL2 has four suction cups with a maximum lifting capacity of 300kg.
In additional, two extension arms can be fitted to provide two more suction cups which ups the lifting capacity to 450kg.
The vacuum lifter is also just 211mm deep, making it easer to be lifting into position, for example behind scaffolding or other obstacles.
The DSKZL2 has other features that support lifting in difficult space. For instance, it has a short-lift arm fitted as standard.
This keeps the vacuum lifter as compact as possible and close to the crane hook. It is especially useful for smaller sheets of glass where the centre of gravity is tight.
The vacuum lifter also has a short-eye hook, which makes it easier to lift loads under overhangs like roof soffits.
Specialist glass lifting
Having access to glass vacuum lifters designed for these specialist tasks is essential. Otherwise, installation can only take place using a sub-optimal system of work.
This could be one that is more complicated, more time-consuming, more disruptive of other construction or maintenance tasks, and ultimately more expensive.
Or, it could be a system of work that is less safe to the personnel involved, increases risk of damage to the glass panel, surrounding structures or equipment, or may result in a sub-standard installation.
The Kappel DSKZL2 glass vacuum lifter is not just compact and slim, it is also a lightweight, weighing just 45kg in its four-cup set-up, and 55kg when fitted with six cups.
It is supplied with a wheeled transportation stand, so moving the glass vacuum lifter around is easy.
It has 360-degree lockable rotation and 90-degree lockable tilt, so the load can be placed with extreme precision. The lift is operated by cable remote control as standard, but can also be fitted with radio control, if required.
Excellent safety
Safety is optimised by a dual-circuit pump with two vacuum tanks. So, if one system fails the other will hold the load. Flashing and audible alarms provide the operator with low vacuum alerts.
The DSKZL2 is one of a range of Kappel lifters in Hird’s glass vacuum lifter rental fleet that provide excellent glass lifting capability across a range of weights and panel formats.
Others include the DSKE2 is a lightweight inline vacuum lifter with a maximum lifting capacity of 450kg that, like the DSKZL2 can be set up with 4 or 6 cups.

The DSZ3 Slimline glass vacuum lifter is a class-lifting heavy-duty lifter that combines great flexibility in the size of panels it can lift, with a very slim design for operating in confined space.
