Product of the Month – Genie GS-3232 electric scissor lift

It is the electric slab scissor lift by which many others are judged – which is why the Genie GS-3232 is the Hird Product of the Month for April.

Genie access platforms have become so common on construction sites, and so many other working at height settings, it is almost a surprise when you do not see them.

The Genie GS-3232 electric scissor lift is a case in point. And it explains why it is one of the most popular scissors with Hird access platform rental customers.

Go-to scissor

Given how popular Genie GS-3232 scissor lifts are, there probably isn’t an IPAF-qualified construction or maintenance operative worth their salt who hasn’t used them, making the process of using rental scissors easier and safer.

Tightest spaces

The self-propelled scissor lift can be used both indoors and outdoors on smooth, hard services, such as concrete or asphalt. If operated outdoors, its working height is reduced to 7.47m.

The Gene GS-3232 also has integral automatic self-levelling outriggers, so it be operated on surfaces with a slope of up to 5 degrees, side to side, and 3 degrees, front to back.

While its gradeability of 25% means there are very few impediments to getting to a worksite in the first place.

The scissor lift impresses by reaching up to the equivalent in height of a three-storey building, while being less than one metre wide.

It is also just 2.26m long and has folding guardrails. This means it can be stowed to a height of 2.03m to be driven through a single doorway.

The Genie GS-3232 scissor lift has an inside turning radius of zero and an external one of just 2.13m, adding to its credentials for working in the tightest of spaces.

Smooth controls

With a platform capacity of 227kg, one or two operatives can work on the platform at a time, or just one operative with a good range of tools and materials.

As the platform’s working area can be increased to 3.18m with a 910mm-long slide-out extension deck, there is a good amount of space to work in for such a compact scissor lift.

The platform has Genie’s excellent proportional controls, for both lift and drive, while driving power is delivered to the two front wheels, and braking is achieved with dual disk brakes on the rear wheels.

The Genie GS-3232 slab scissor is also fitted with excellent safety features, including pothole guards, load and tilt sensors, visual and audible alarms and emergency stop buttons at ground level and on the platform.

Zero emissions

Solid, non-marking tyres allow the platform to be operated across all types of suitable flooring. Meanwhile, as a zero-emission MEWP it delivers a low carbon footprint working at height solution.

The Genie GS-3232 scissor is ideal for carrying out building inspection, maintenance and repair, as well as painting and decorating and cleaning.
