Product of the Month – Genie Z-34/22IC Diesel Boom
Genie Z access booms. The last letter in the alphabet, but often one of the first options on the minds of our cherry picker hire customers.
Okay, groan over. What sort of word association is that to start a sensible discussion about the merits of powered access equipment?
But the Genie Z range of self-propelled access platforms does have some excellent qualities, and it is why the Genie Z-34/22IC diesel boom is our Product of the Month for June.
This excellent outdoor cherry picker is versatile, rugged, has great safety features and is specifically designed for use on confined, and so potentially hazardous, spaces.
Safety built in
Key to that design is its offer of zero tail swing and zero front arm swing. That means the diesel boom can be elevated and lowered without the boom extending over either the front or back of the chassis.
Also, once in position, the self-levelling basket of the Genie Z-34/22IC can be manoeuvred with less risk of the boom striking surrounding structures. All this makes for safer boom movements, and safer access platform operation.
The dual parallelogram lift design keeps the boom in the same vertical plan as it is extended or lowered. This allows the operator to move up and down a wall without the need to extend or retract the boom.
Safer AND more productive platform operation is a major win-win benefit. It reduces the risk of structure strikes, that are both hazardous and costly. It also means powered access operators are happier and more confident in their work.
Excellent performance
The Genie Z-34/22IC is also designed to give excellent reach and up-and-over capability. Here are the figures in brief:
Maximum working height | 12.52 metres |
Maximum outreach | 6.8 metres |
Up-and-over clearance | 4.6 metres |
Travelling width | 1.73 metres |
Gross weight | 4,604 kg |
Lift capacity | 227 kg |
Standard features of this diesel boom also include a 1.2 metre articulating jib. When combined with proportional lift and drive controls, and 180-degree basket rotation, this allows the operator to place the basket with great precision for safe working at height.
The Genie Z-34/22IC also has excellent stability over rough terrain, with up to 37 per cent grade-ability. This is why they are very popular diesel boom hire options for construction work, where productivity, and safe confined space working are primary concerns.
