Hird Opens New Southern Depot

Hird, the Boom hire, Scissor Lift hire and Pick and Carry Crane hire specialists from Hull, Yorkshire, has opened a new depot in Redhill, Surrey, to serve its expanding customer base in London and the south of the Country.

The new Southern Depot is perfectly placed to supply London and the Home Counties with the Hird range of equipment. With recent company expansion, Hird has also invested in new machines such as a new Mini Crane fleet and a new Glass Vacuum range.

Glass hoists, or glass winches, make up part of the new Glass handling range, enabling an operative to safely and quickly move panes of glass. The company also offers glass vacuums (glass suckers) which are used for positioning before fitting.

Phil Hird, Hird Director, said: “We can offer the same wide range of Pick and Carry Cranes as our Northern Depot in Hull and Central Depot in Doncaster. Our Mini Cranes and Spider Cranes range includes models from companies such as Valla cranes and UNIC cranes; we now stock the new UNIC 295 spider crane which has already proven to be very popular.”

The new Southern Depot will provide equipment for all South West and South East regions, including Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Essex and Berkshire.

Crane operator training, IPAF training courses and A66 training can all be carried out at the Redhill site or at the customer’s own facilities as long as they are suitable.

The Hird Southern Depot is currently supplying a range of Valla compact mini cranes and UNIC mini cranes to carry out glazing work at ‘The Shard London Bridge’, which will become Britain’s tallest building.
