A look at cherry pickers
Hird, the Hull based cherry picker hire and mini crane hire specialists is continuing to offer a large modern range of powered access machines to its customers in Hull, Yorkshire and across the UK.
A cherry picker is either telescopic or articulated – designed to enable the operator to gain access to a point up, over and around obstacles.
The cherry picker fleet can be broken down into four different types of machines. These are electric booms, diesel booms, bi-energy booms and spider booms.
Electric booms are emission free and have non-marking tyres, making them ideal for indoor use.
Diesel booms are for outdoor use and have rough terrain tyres – suitable for travelling over un-even ground. The largest diesel boom in the Hird fleet offers the operator up to 27 metres working height.
The key feature of a bi-energy boom is that it is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use – this is because it can easily be swapped from electric operation to diesel operation.
Spider cranes are extremely versatile machines. Due to their compact dimensions, most can fit through doorways, be transported on service lifts and work in narrow spaces. Spider booms have tracked wheels and x4 outriggers, so are also able to travel over and work on uneven ground.
Hird offers competitive rates on short term and long term hire on its full range of cherry pickers. All machines are available to customers throughout the UK from the company’s Northern, Central and Southern depots.
