Hird adds ‘exciting’ new capabilities to materials moving hire fleet
Builders, engineers and equipment installers can more easily and safely transport materials in the most challenging environments using new Tracked Carriers now available from Hird.
The British-made battery electric machines are specifically designed to move materials and equipment across difficult terrain and low load-bearing indoor floors.
Tracked Carriers complement Hird’s Winlet ErgoMover battery electric materials trolleys, adding new capabilities for customers in the construction, structure maintenance and M&E installation sectors.
‘Exciting’ material moving capabilities
Hird Managing Director Phil Hird said: “Tracked Carriers are exciting new material moving machines that have significant advantages when moving materials across challenging ground or internal areas.
“They greatly reduce the need for manual handling, while overcoming problems caused by difficult terrain. This makes them an ideal hire option for building contractors, in particular.
“However, they’re also ideal for other specialists who need to reach remote worksites, including gas, power transmission and telecommunication engineers, plus wind turbine installers and maintenance teams.”
Confined space advantages
Hird has added three Tracked Carriers models to its materials moving hire fleet:
TC-1200 PRO
Maximum capacity 1.2t
TC-2200 PRO
Maximum capacity 2.2t
TC-4000 PRO
Maximum capacity 4t
All three models have maintenance-free AGM batteries and highly-efficient direct drive AC motors, providing long battery life and consistent power delivery. With no hydraulic system there is no risk of oil spills.
The tracked carriers are operated by wireless remote control, with an LCD screen that gives clear information, including diagnostics feedback.
Proportional controls support safe and smooth movement across the most difficult terrain and precise positioning in confined spaces, to protect loads and surrounding surfaces.
The tracked carriers can handle a maximum gradient of 45 degrees, with gradient monitoring sensors supporting safe use. They can also handle side slopes of up to 30 degrees.
The Tracked Carriers TC-1200, specifically, can also be hired from Hird with a fifth wheel and dolly for transporting longer loads, like steel beams. In this set up, the maximum load is increased to 2.2 tonnes.
Multiple material moving tasks
The safety and productivity advantages of Hird’s new Tracked Carriers is clear. They allow smaller teams to more easily load and unload materials and move them significant distances to worksites.
Versality is built in – loads that can be carried include bricks and blocks, packs of tiles, steel and wooden, pipes, stacks of plasterboard and other sheeted materials.
The Tracked Carriers can just as easily be used to carry equipment and machinery to where they need to be used or installed, such as signs, solar panels, ground source heat pumps, and lighting units.
They are also ideal for working across low-load bearing structures, both indoors and outdoors, providing additional protection for sensitive floors, especially when combined with floor protection mats.
