Full access platform and glass lifting hire solution for Quintiles
Hird provided a full access and lifting hire solution for Quintiles’ new head office in Green Park, Bracknell, Reading. The drug company’s building required interior remedial works within its glass atrium along with some glazing work at height.
The glass handling and mini crane specialists provided a UNIC 706 mini crane, a P11104 ‘4 in Line’ vacuum lifter, a CTE CS230 Spiderlift and two Genie 2646 Scissor Lifts to complete the tasks.
The UNIC 706 mini crane was used in conjunction with the P11104 vacuum lifter to lift glass panels into position to be fitted onto the 19 metre high internal office box extention features. The glazers were able to safely work at the same height as the mini crane and install the panels from the CTE CS230 Spiderlift.
A UNIC 706 mini crane has the ability to run off electric power, so it can provide quiet and fume-free lifting indoors. The UNIC 706 also had to get through a standard double door to gain access and being only 1600mm wide, the mini crane was easily slim enough to fit.
Two Genie scissor lifts were used for various lower level tasks where a larger amount of platform space was required for personnel and tools
The full range of Valla cranes, UNIC mini cranes, glass lifting equipment and glass lifting accessories is available nationwide, from the Hird Northern, Central and Southern Depots.
