Product of the Month – MRTA8 vacuum lifter

Product of the Month – MRTA8 vacuum lifter

We all like to talk in extremes – the smallest, the biggest, the heaviest. But spare a thought for the stuff that’s somewhere in the middle.

We all like to talk in extremes – the smallest, the biggest, the heaviest. But spare a thought for the stuff that’s somewhere in the middle.

Stuff like our Product of the Month, the Woods Powr-Grip MRTA8 vacuum lifter. No extremes here, except extremely good vacuum lifting performance.

The MRTA8 is one of our most popular machines precisely because it is right in the middle of our vacuum lifter hire range – what Take That is to pop, the MRTA8 is to glass lifting.

Stuck in the middle with you – the MRTA8 vacuum lifter has one big advantage over Take That, there are no wrinkles on this high-performing beast of the glass and materials vacuum lifting world.

Improved vacuum lifter

Unlike Take That, though, the MRTA8 is not getting a bit wrinkled around the edges with age. In fact, the glass lifter is an upgrade of another popular Woods Powr-Grip model, the MRTA6.

As glazing and curtain walling panels have become heavier and larger, so demand has grown for ever more capable vacuum lifters, so the MRTA8 was created.

The vacuum lifter has eight suction pads (as in the name) that deliver a maximum lifting capacity of 635kg. The load can be rotated through 360 degrees and tilted through 90 degrees.

Ease-of-use and high productivity levels makes the MRTA8 ideal for a wide ranging of material handing projects, including glass installation during construction, building and glazing maintenance, including emergency repairs, and building refurbishment.

Great load control

The glass vacuum lifter also has the Quadra-Tilt mechanism that greatly reduces the effort needed to tilt the load, making load control and installation easier, safer and more precise.

This excellent operational performance, combined with its popularity, is one reason why we selected the MRTA8 vacuum lifter for our Anatomy of series, which showcases how Hird’s innovative and ultra-modern equipment works.

Intelligent lifting

And with this machine, it is not just about raw lifting power. The MRTA8 vacuum lifter combines brains with brawn, through its Intelli-Grip load control and monitoring system.

This innovation makes full use of digital sensor technology to auto-test and adjust the performance of the vacuum lifter as it is being used.

The system delivers improved leak detection, improving safety, and ensures its battery power is used efficiently so lasts longer. Enhanced data can be monitored by the operator via a new full-colour display screen.

Intelli-Grip data can then be reviewed to see how the machine has been used, giving insights into the need for additional operator training which, over time, can improve productivity and safety.

Adaptable and safe

Another key feature of the MRTA8 vacuum lifter is its adaptability. Its suction cups can be configured in many different ways, with four cups or all eight cups, to support the lifting of different-shaped loads.

It can also be used for lifting and manipulating non-porous materials other than glass, such as metals, plastics, wood and plasterboard.

So, it is clear to see, there is nothing fair to middling about the MRTA8 vacuum lifter. This is one of the world’s most capable and innovative lifting machines.
