Hird helps Scouts explore Hull in Monopoly Run challenge
Mini crane, glass lifting and powered access specialist Hird is sponsoring a major Scouting event which will turn the city of Hull into a giant Monopoly board.
The City of Hull and Humberside Scouts Monopoly Run takes place from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 June – with the aim that the event will be repeated during Hull City of Culture 2017.
The Monopoly Run will see teams of Scouts and Explorers, aged 12 to 18, visiting 26 locations across Hull that make up a fictitious Monopoly board.
At each location, they will face either a physical or mental challenge – 13 of each – which will test them as individuals and as a team.
Each team of five Scouts will also get the opportunity to ‘Take a Chance’ to help with their challenge, but will have to beware, because it could result in them going to jail.
Hird, which has its HQ in Hull, is an event sponsor as part of its ongoing support for Hird Mini Crane Sales and Aftersales Manager Carl Cooper, who is Assistant District Commissioner (Development) of scouting in Humberside.
Hird Managing Director Phil Hird said:
“We are very pleased to support the Monopoly Run. It’s a perfect example of the great opportunities that scouting provides for boys and girls.”
Carl said:
“Well over 120 scouts of all ages will be taking part – raising awareness of scouting in the community and giving participants the chance to enjoy and challenge.”
The first Hull and Humberside Monopoly Run took place five years ago – and the next date in the diary to play a giant version of the game is during Hull City of Culture 2017.
Carl said:
“During the City of Culture year, the plan is to put on 15,000 events in Hull, and we want an even bigger and better Monopoly Run to be one of the key events.”
