Hird-inspired GML 800+ generates interest across Europe
A ground-breaking counterbalance floor crane developed according to specifications drawn up by Hird is on its way to the UK.
The GML 800+ sets new performance standards, with the ability to lift glass panels weighing up to 800kg – even overhead.
The counterbalance floor crane has been developed by leading materials handling equipment manufacturer Wienold, in Germany, based on Hird design specifications to maximise performance and productivity.
It will be available exclusively as part of Hird’s glass and materials lifting hire fleet.
As demand to lift ever larger and heavier glass sheets grows, Hird could see the need for a higher-capacity counterbalance floor crane in the glass handling UK market.
The GML 800+ is proving so capable as a glass lifter and manipulator that it is attracting interest from other Wienold clients across Europe.
It provides a highly-compact method for lifting and placing glass with complete precision in confined areas, making it ideal for both construction and facilities management tasks.
The GML 800+ counterbalance floor crane has an impressive maximum hook height of 7.94 metres.
Combined with its ability to lift glass into a horizontal position overhead, this makes it ideal for removing or installing glass panels in roofs.
With counterweights, the GML 800+ weighs just 625kg, so it offers a relatively low-weight footprint for operating across a wide range of surfaces, including floating floor structures.
The GML 800+ provides stand-away remote operation via a cable link, so the operator can always view the lifting task from the best and safest position.
It can also be fitted with a range of attachments, including a hydraulic arm, for precision placement and installation of glass panels, and a lifting fork.
The counterbalance floor crane’s wheel system allows smooth and precise movement, so operators can position the machine to millimetre accuracy.
The GML 800+ is just one of the latest material lifts to be added to Hird’s glass lifter hire fleet.
Our aim is to have the right equipment and glass vacuum lifter for all glass installation projects – so they can be completed with optimum efficiency and safety every time.
