GML800+ Manipulator – anatomy of an industry leader
It’s good when a bright idea comes to fruition. Even better when it becomes a class-leading lifting machine. That’s certainly the case with the GML800+ Manipulator.
Hird has worked closely with German lifting equipment manufacturer to conceive, design and develop its GML counterbalance floor crane range.
Much of its performance advantage comes down to the expertise Hird materials and glass lifting hire personnel have brought to bear, as we strive to fully understand what makes it easier for our customers to do their work.
This has led to the rapid development of a range of GML material lift products, with the GML800+ Manipulator counterbalance floor crane being one of the stars of the show.
Anatomy of a class leading crane
To prove the point, we have created an interactive graphic in our popular ‘Anatomy of’ product information series to reveal some of the big benefits of using the GML800+ Manipulator for lifting and installing glass or any other non-porous sheet material, like plastic and plasterboard.
The counterbalance floor crane has a maximum safe working load of 500kg – and can lift a load of that weight up to 7.9m – even installing glass horizontally director overhead if necessary.
This makes the our GML800+ ideal for installing glass, during construction or for maintenance, into canopies or glass roofs.
Above head glass installation
The manipulator, developed by Kappel, is fully automated via radio remote control, so the glass lifting operative can get the best view of the installation process, enhancing safety and productivity.
Hird’s GML800+ lifter is easy to use and move around. This, combined with the much-reduced manual handling needed, means glass installation teams can be smaller, reducing project costs.
Alternatively, the GML800+ counterbalance floor crane can be combined with a below-the-hook vacuum lifter for fitting glass or cladding panels down the side of a building.
A key safety feature of the crane is its dual safety brakes, which prevent sudden loss of control of loads, while its study but simple design means it will go on delivering great service, job after job.
And another performance plus is its ability to get right up against an installation space, so glass or cladding can be lifted directly into place, with minimal manual handling.
Options for all applications
The machine can be fitted with a range of lifting accessories including lifting forks and a lifting boom, both standard lifting equipment hire options from Hird, as well as the manipulator.
The beauty of the Hird GML 800+ counterbalance floor crane series is the range of operation choices to match its performance with the preferences and capabilities of different lifting teams.
GML800+ Manual
The simplest set up for the counterbalance floor crane. It has a manual winch with an adjustable crank and worm gear or a three-step drill kit as standard.
GML800+ DC Battery
The counterbalance floor crane is fitted with a 24V battery that drives the winch, for maximum mobility and long-lasting performance. The crane is fitted with an integrated charging station.
GML800+ AC Mains
This version is powered from mains-delivered 230/110V electricity. So, if operators have access to mains power the counterbalance floor crane will go on lifting all day.
