Christmas has lift-off at hospice – or is that lift in!
Hird lifting and powered access teams have helped install a giant Christmas tree at Dove House Hospice and festoon it with festive lights.
Providing its services free-of-charge, the company used one of its mobile cranes to lift the fir tree into position outside the hospice’s main entrance in Chamberlain Street, Hull.
Then, a boom lift from Hird’s access hire fleet was provided so the tree could be decked out with colourful lights.
Valued health service
Hird Managing Director Phil Hird said: “We were delighted to be able to make sure Dove House Hospice’s Christmas tree looks the part for the festive season.
“The hospice’s wonderful team provides one of the most valued health services in the whole of East Yorkshire. It was an honour for our teams to be able to help.”
Dove House Hospice has been delivering its highly-personalised care for people in Hull and East Yorkshire for almost 40 years.
It supports people over the age of eighteen with progressing life-limiting illnesses, including cancer, neurological illnesses, heart and respiratory disease, dementia and HIV/AIDS.
Hird used its Liebherr LTM1060 3.1 mobile crane to lift the 7-metre-tall tree and place it precisely on the right spot outside the hospice.
The crane has a maximum safe working load of 60 tonnes, plus a maximum working height of 48m – 63m with its jib – and a maximum radius of 48m.
Low-emissions power
The mobile crane has the latest computer-controlled lifting systems that support variable outrigger positioning for working in confined spaces.
The access platform Hird selected to deck the tree with lights was a Genie Z34/22 self-propelled articulating boom lift.
The low-emissions diesel-powered cherry picker has a maximum working height of 12.52m and a maximum outreach of 6.78m.
Its large basket has a capacity of 227kg, allowing up to two operatives to work together at height, with plenty of tools.
