Product of the Month – Wienold MFC 750K and Ks
It’s not often that an industry-leading mini floor crane comes along – and then two come along at once. Literally.
That’s because our new Wienold MFC 750K mini floor crane is also the Wienold MFC 750Ks mini floor crane. Bear with us. We can explain.
This is our Product of the Month for November, not least because it sets new standards in terms of lift capacity and compact design.
The Hird glass lifting team has worked with Wienold to design the MFC 750. Our aim was simple: create a mini floor crane that is as compact as possible, and lift as much as possible.
And boy, does the Wienold MFC 750Ks achieve that.
The ‘s’ stands for Shorty. So, when our clients need the most compact mini floor cranes on the market, they just have to call us and say: “Get Shorty.”
Film buffs will get that one.
Extendable chassis
To explain, the Wienold MFC 750 has a clever extendable chassis. In its short set-up, the chassis is just 1200mm long and 650mm wide.
Yet, it has a maximum lifting capacity of 500kg. For a mini floor crane that’s just 1200mm long, that’s phenomenal.
No other counterbalance floor crane in the UK can do the same.
In fact, for that size of load, we think it is quite probably the best-performing mini floor crane (here comes Jeremy Clarkson voice) in the world.
Unique capability
Here is some proof of the real benefits of this high load capacity, combined with an ultra-short wheelbase.
One of our Wienold MFC 750Ks mini floor cranes was used to install windows in a new building at BBC White City, in West London. It’s shown on site in the picture at the top of this article.
That was because it was the only machine in the UK small enough to be positioned between the roof edge and a maintenance rail.
When fitted with a Minifor TR50 materials hoist and an MRT4 vacuum lifter, it was ideal for lifting and installing glass panels throughout an inner quadrangle.
But that’s not all (more Jeremy Clarkson). The Wienold MFC 750Ks ‘Shorty’ can be easily adapted to turn it into the MFC 750K.
This is done by adding extension legs at the back of the mini floor crane, so the machine’s weights are counterbalanced further away from the load.
The result, is that the Wienold MFC 750 mini floor crane has a maximum lifting capacity of a whopping 750kg. And it is still only 1800mm long, and 650mm wide.
Easy to transport
For both models, lockable swivel castors are fitted as standard. All terrain front tyres are available to reduce ground loading and improve manoeuvrability.
The MFC 750 can be quickly and easily assembled and disassembled. For transport, it will fit in a standard lift.
All components, such as the counterweights, come with carry handles, to make it simple to set up, ready for lifting.
The mini floor cranes have a maximum hook height of 3.05m. The boom extends in eight 120mm increments to 1200mm.
Flexible set-up options
For additional stability, lateral outriggers are available for both models.
Flexible use of the counterweights enable the mini floor crane to be positioned in front of walls and balustrades, so loads can be raised or lowered over obstacles.
The MFC 750 is perfect for office, showroom and shop-front glazing and maintenance. It is also well-suited to material lifting on construction sites.
As the BBC White City project demonstrates, it can be used to lift materials up to roof level when fitted with an electric winch and the right lifting attachment.
The MFC 750 is only available for hire in the UK through Hird. We’re proud to have helped Wienold develop the design of such a capable mini floor crane.
If you want to take a closer look at the machine, call us today. It is available for hire nationally through our three regional operating centres.
