UK first for Hird as it adds all-electric Manitous to its fleet

Hird has become the first company in the UK to take delivery of the Manitou 200 ATJ E – the manufacturer’s first all-electric rough terrain articulating boom lift.

The Manitou 200 AJT E Oxygen, as it is being called, has a maximum working height of 20m, a maximum outreach of 11.57m, and will complete over a day’s intensive work on one full charge of its batteries.

Hird has a strategy of investing in a range of electric powered access platforms, including boom lifts, scissor lifts, and spider platforms to meet all customer requirements.

All-day operation

Managing Director Phil Hird said: “The Manitou 200 AJT E is a very good fit for us as it combines Manitou’s excellent all-terrain technology with advanced all-electric power.

As an all-electric and all-terrain cherry picker, the Manitou 200 AJT E, supplied by Manitou main UK distributor Hessle, is perfectly at home operating in both indoor and outdoor environments.

This maximises the flexible use of working at height platforms on construction and maintenance projects for which it has been primarily designed.

Indoor and outdoor

Modern construction techniques, especially for large industrial shed building, benefit from the use of aerial platforms, like the Manitou 200 ATJ E, that can operate across rough terrain and in enclosed space as sites are developed.

This reduces the need for platforms to be replaced at key moments in the development cycle. Both main contractors and end-use clients often have important strategies to reduce carbon footprints.

Active oscillation

The platform has an unrestricted basket capacity of 230kg, allowing two personnel to work at height if necessary. Its proportional controls, combined with a fly jib, 350^° turret rotation and 180^° basket rotation, allow precise positioning for safe working.

The platform’s high ground clearance and active oscillating axles ensure excellent performance across uneven ground. Power is delivered directly to each wheel, rather than hydraulically, so there is reduced risk of hydraulic fluid spill.
