Product of the Month – Woods Powr-Grip MRT2 vacuum lifter

Who said big is beautiful?

Here at Hird, we have been known to say size does matter. Think of the Hydraulica 3500 vacuum lifter. Wow! That’s big.

But we must remind ourselves that small is beautiful too, which is why our last Product of the Month of 2018 is the MRT2 vacuum lifter.

The Woods Powr-Grip machine may be the stocking filler of our vacuum lifter hire range, but it will be on the wish list of many of our glass lifting customers in 2019.

Vacuum lifter with immense benefits

One of the big reasons why is that, even with glass lifting at lower weights, the benefits of using a vacuum lifter are immense.

The twin-cupped MRT2 vacuum lifter has a maximum lifting capacity of 135kg and can be controlled by a single operative.

Put in perspective, that means it would take 30 of the machines to lift the maximum load achieved by a Hydraulica 3500 vacuum lifter.

But it still delivers big benefits in terms of greatly-reduced manual handing and faster, more precise glass installation.

With the MRT2 vacuum lifter, combined with an appropriate lifting machine, glass installation becomes much safer and much more productive.

Glass installation precision

And, like other vacuum lifters we have on hire, the MRT2 can be used to lift other non-porous materials, like plasterboard, plastic and metal.

The vacuum lifter is a more sophisticated version of the MT2 vacuum lifter, also available for hire from Hird, with the R standing for Rotation.

The MRT2 gives the operator 180-degree powered lockable rotation as well as the ability to manually tilt a load through 90 degrees.

This greatly helps the process of installing glass with precision, reducing the number of operatives needed, and reducing the risk of damage.

Excellent safety features

The vacuum lifter has excellent safety features, including a dual circuit valve, reducing the risk of suction failure, and audible and visual alarms.

The MRT2 vacuum lifter can be combined with different lifting equipment, including pick and carry cranes, spider cranes and counterbalance floor cranes, all available to hire from Hird.

As well as installing glass panels during building construction and refurbishment, the MRT2 vacuum lifter is ideal for large vehicle manufacturing and maintenance.
