FPAL certification

FPAL certification

Mini crane and powered access specialist Hird has achieved certification as an Achilles FPAL prequalified supplier to the oil and gas industry.

Hird is now fully registered as a supplier on the Achilles First Point Assessment database, which is used by more than 100 buyers across Europe.

Achilles FPAL identifies, evaluates and pre-qualifies suppliers on behalf of major buyers in the oil and gas industry, including producers, refiners and distributors.

Hird Mini Crane Sales and Aftersales Manager Carl Cooper said: “We supply mini cranes to a number of firms working in the oil and gas industry.

“So we considered it important that we should use Achilles FPAL to demonstrate that we meet the standards expected in those sectors.

“This will provide additional assurance for our current customers, and we hope it will open up opportunities with new ones.”

Hird achieved Achilles FPAL certification by completed a detailed questionnaire about its systems and procedures, demonstrating its technical expertise, high health and safety standards and financial stability.

Achilles FPAL was set up to support the North Sea oil and gas exploration and production supply chain. It is now being used, increasingly, across Europe to help buyers quickly find and select the best suppliers.

With its headquarters in Hull, East Yorkshire, Hird has built up a strong reputation as a supplier of specialist lifting and powered access equipment to the petro-chemical industry, which has major production sites in the area.

Carl Cooper said: “We now supply mini cranes, and a range of other lifting and powered access equipment, to petro-chemical plants across the UK.

“Our Valla pick and carry mini cranes are ideal for carrying out regular maintenance and machinery moving tasks required on such large industrial sites.

“With Achilles FPAL status, our customers have even more assurances that both our lifting products and our service are second to none, meeting precisely their own exacting requirements and standards.”
