Chemical giant BASF prepares to take delivery of mini crane

The Brazilian arm of the chemical giant BASF is preparing to take delivery of a Valla pick and carry mini crane supplied by Hird.

The new Valla 30E mini crane will be used in the German company’s operations in Sao Paolo.

BASF made an online enquiry through Hird about Valla mini cranes. Hird is the UK and Ireland distributor for the Italian-made pick and carry cranes.

That led to an order being placed for the mini crane with Valla – and the machine being assembled at the company’s factory in Piacenza, just south of Milan.

The Valla 30E mini crane is an electric-powered mini pick and carry crane so is perfectly suited to being operated inside buildings, where fume-free running is ideal.

It is one of the most compact mini cranes on the market.

Key operational statistics include:

  • Maximum safe working load of 3.5 tonnes
  • Tip height of over 6 metres with 500kg at 2.5 metre radius
  • Maximum radius outreach of 5 metres and 200kg
  • Weight: 2.5 tonnes
  • Width: 1240mm.

Hird mini crane sales and aftersales manager Carl Cooper, based at the company’s HQ in Hull, Yorkshire, said: “Valla electric mini cranes provide excellent operational effectiveness.

“This pick and carry crane is fitted with the latest load monitoring systems for optimum safety and productivity.

“As a company, BASF will be well aware of the sustainability benefits of operating electric mini cranes, both to protect the working and wider environment and protect the people in it.”

Valla Cranes is now owned by Manitex International, a world leader in lifting and carrying solutions, giving BASF added assurance about the ongoing support they will get for their new mini crane.

Carl Cooper said: “This deal shows Hird is well placed to supply the best quality mini cranes on the market to any company in the world.

“We supply new mini cranes and used mini cranes to customers in many other world regions, including the Middle East and Europe.”

Hird can source and supply used mini cranes, which can be reconditioned to the highest standard in its own workshop.
