Hydraulica 1500 – you can bank on its lifting power

Hird is supplying the only Hydraulica 1500 glass vacuum lifter in the UK to contractors installing curved glass in the new Goldman Sachs HQ in the centre of London.

The powerful vacuum lifter is proving ideal for the task of lifting and placing the glazing panels in the global investment bank’s new offices on the corner of Farringdon Street and Shoe Lane.

The Hydraulica 1500 is an upgraded version of the popular Hydraulica 1200 Curved, with a maximum lifting capacity of 1,500kg, and excellent safety features, including dual independent vacuum circuits.

In this case, the curved panels being lifted, weighing 1,400kg each, were no problem for the vacuum lifter, which was attached to an electric winch supported by a standard lifting rig.

As more and more curved glass is used in modern building design, much of it structural glass units, as in the Goldman Sachs building, these large vacuum lifters are in great demand.

hydraulica 1500 glass vacuum lifter new for 2017The Hydraulica 1500 vacuum lifter can be operated remotely via a cabled remote control unit, so the lift operator has full visibility of the lifting operation, for precision installation of any glazing unit.

Irregular loads can be lifted with the assistance of individual suction pad shut off, another important feature for this vacuum lifter as glazing panels are designed in more complex shapes.

The latest version of the Hydraulica 1500 vacuum lifter also has remote-controlled tilt and rotation. It allows the glass load to be rotated smoothly through 270 degrees and tilted through 90 degrees, aiding quick and precise installation, with minimal manual handling.

Goldman Sachs’ new £350m HQ is due to open in 2019.
