Hird creates career hat trick to strengthen mini crane sales drive
mini crane hire, powered access hire and glass equipment specialist Hird has appointed Carl Cooper to support the company’s growth in new machine sales.
Carl will have responsibility across the extensive Hird equipment range. But he will have a particular focus on the company’s role as the sole UK and Ireland distributor of Valla Cranes.
Carl Cooper, on the left in this picture, has completed his first mini crane sale – with the delivery of a Valla 25EL pick and carry crane to Ainscough Vanguard.

here at Hird.
He has a national reputation for his expertise on compact and mini crane in general, and Valla mini cranes in particular, so we are very pleased to have him on board.”
Carl said: “You could call this a career hat trick because I am coming back to Hird for the third time. Hird is a dynamic company and has come a long way in the last 4 years, opening new depots and developing a UK-wide profile.

He has rejoined the company just as Hird prepares to introduce a new Valla pick and carry crane that will strengthen the manufacturer’s position as the leading mini crane brand in the UK.
The new Valla 120Evo is a highly compact 12 tonne pick and carry crane that will significantly increase the opportunity for single handling work in many industrial sectors, including food and drink, aviation and heavy engineering.

Carl first joined Hird in the early 1990s as a crane mechanic. Then, after a spell away, returned as workshop manager in 2002 and went on to play a key role in the company’s marketing of Valla cranes in the UK.
