Come to Hird for the full glass handling package

The growing range of glass handling equipment and accessories available now, as construction technology advances and building techniques improve, is impressive.

Once you have selected your pick and carry crane to do the heavy lifting, you still need to choose the right glass vacuum lifters, glass cups, glass trolleys, lifting slings…

It could be baffling. Fortunately, mini crane, powered access and glass handling specialist Hird is a one-stop-shop for the best glass handling equipment for hire or sale in the UK – providing customers with an end-to-end service.

With our expertise customers can be sure that they get the right glass lifting machines and accessories – maximising the productivity, safety and cost efficiency of their projects.

Take vacuum lifters, for example.

We stock everything from the Wood’s Powr-Grip MT2, which has two suction cups, through the Wood’s Powr-Grip MRT4 and Kombi 7211-DS2, both highly-adaptable and tough mid-range vacuum lifters – through to the big boys of glass lifting, such as the Hydraulica 1200, with a lifting capacity of 1,200kg and the ability to carry large, irregular-sized loads.

While, these highly-sophisticated machines are impressive, glass handling still relies on simple devices such as A-frame glass trolleysand A-frame glass stillages, plus all the kit that helps pure muscle get a job done safely.

For example, our extensive range of glazing accessories includes liftable A-frame trolleys and high-sided A-frame trolleys, capable of carrying 1,000kg and 1,500kg weights respectively. We also stock plate glass trolleys and slab buggies.

Our customers can choose from a wide range of Bohle VERIBOR and Wood’s Powr-Grip pump-activated hand cups (suction lifters) and other glass transport aids such as carrying straps, lifting slings, clamping carriages and glass corner holders.

Also, our expert staff can advise on best practice for safe use of all glass handling equipment and can organised operator and manual handling training, if required.

Glass handling equipment and accessories are available for hire or sale, from Hird’s southern depot, serving London and the south, the central depot, serving the midlands, Wales and east of England, and the northern depot, serving the north, north east and Scotland.
